October is filled with school picture day, Columbus Day, Halloween, Fall sports, but October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). It's a sensitive subject that no one really likes to talk about or some are afraid to talk about but it's real and it's here. The Retreat celebrates DVAM with information, stories, videos and more in support of survivors and stories of hope on how to end the abuse cycle. Check out their page AllAgainstAbuse.org. The Retreat adds to the page multiple times a week with links to videos, blog posts, social media, and more. The Retreat is currently doing a fundraising campaign and are recruiting people to raise funds on behalf of The Retreat.
From October 1st to December 31st, The Retreat is raising funds to support the anticipated 850 calls their hotline receives between October 1st and December 31st. That blew my mind, 850 calls to The Retreat from people seeking help from domestic violence. Each hotline call answered costs $17. That being said, Macaroni Kid Hamptons will be honoring The Retreat as the .ORG of the month October 1st through December 31st.
