Farmer's Markets are OPEN and thriving In The Hamptons, NY

Buy local!

By Shannon Trelease Macaroni Kid Hamptons, NY May 29, 2021

It's farmers market season in The Hamptons!

We love supporting our local farmers and buying locally-grown produce and goods. Plus, it's fun for the whole family to visit  a farmers market in the Hamptons, NY.

Here are four things to note before heading out to farmers markets  in the Hamptons, NY:

  • Farm stands can sometimes change hours on short notice dependent on weather, produce availability, and other factors. It's best to call ahead to make sure pick-your-own is available that day. Prices can also change from day to day.
  • Bring your own containers or bags to avoid any extra charges!
  • Bring cash as some Hamptons farmer market stands don't take credit cards.
  • Some farmer markets  in the Hamptons might have rules or requests in place due to COVID. Please check their websites or social media sites before heading out!

We recently visited the East Hampton Farmer's Market and I had the pleasure of meeting Joe from Chowder Head Soup!  He, just like many other vendors, had a unique and uplifting story!  His wife Heidi had started making traditional Austrian pastries/cookies and giving them to clients as gifts when she worked in Marketing and PR for the arts in NYC and expanding areas.  They quickly took off and she with her husband Joe, an architect by day, created Vienna Cookie Company and Chowder Head Soup.  I had the pleasure of trying the Lobster Bisque and it was AMAZING!!! Surpisingly also GLUTEN FREE! Say WHAT?!  The lobster was cooked so well and was not rubbery at all.  I highly recommend stopping by and seeing these two!
