Union Burger A Great Family Friendly Dining Addition to Southampton

By Delaney Oser, Publisher Macaroni Kid Hamptons February 26, 2019

Union Burger, located in the south end of Union Cantina in Southampton, is a much needed addtion to the Southampton restaurant scene. Cozy, relaxed, and touting a $9.95 children's menu, it is the new hotspot for little Macaroni's and their families. It is also a fantastic place for the grown ups to grab a reasonable priced dinner when they have a time out from their young ones.

We met another family for dinner and between the six of us managed to enjoy a well rounded taste of many menu items. Union Burger has cleverly offered something for all or most while staying true to it's classic burger focus. My turkey burger with a touch of apricot jam and slices of perfectly ripe avocado was yummy and the sweet potato fries tasty and hard to stop eating. The other mama at the table, who is perhaps the most fit woman I know, really enjoyed her housemade veggie burger which can be ordered sans bun wrapped in lettuce leaves. Both dads enjoyed their more classic burger interpretations and all of us raved about, and devoured, the onion rings. Light and crisp, they were absolutely addicting. The boys, both six, had a hamburger and a cheeseburger and for $9.95 were given really, well sized portions and were more then happy.

Gaven and Jayden, our six year old critics, had their eyes wide on every shake that passed our table. Union Burger has embraced the trend of the decorated glass and the shakes look a bit like Willy Wonka conjured them up. The boys, much to my relief (no need for a complete sugar overload after dinner), agreed to share one shake, the cotton candy shake, and Union Burger graciously offered a second huge spiral lollipop to avoid conflict. There is a menu of adult beverage style shakes that were super appealing, but we did not indulge.

The only downfall, which can easily be avoided, is that Union Burger does not take reservations. Seating is limited and they seem to be hopping during standard dinner hours. We would recommend, with children, dining as early as possible, before the big rush hits. Union Burger is definitely a keeper and we hope it expands a bit into the main dining room of Union Cantina accomdating more guests for their top notch burgers and shakes.

We were invited to join Union Burger for dinner, but all opinions are absolutely my own. You know this Macaroni Mama would not steer you wrong - especially when it comes to food!
