Macaroni Moms on the Move

Take advantage of this incredible December weather and soak up some of that essential vitamin D while we can! Get those strollers out, strap those kiddos in and head out! A few add-on's to your normal morning or evening stroll around the block can really boost those endorphin's and set the tone for the rest of your days/nights.

Cardio bursts. Whether your kiddos are with you or not, try this out on your next outdoor walk. If you normally walk at a slow pace, get those arms moving. Swinging your arms a little more promotes a healthy blood flow, to your body and brain....which, as Moms we ALL need!.From there, pick up the pace and start with a fast walk or slow jog, heels to toe form, keeping your shoulders down and relaxing the muscles in your neck and back. Keep those tummies tight and control that breathing - in through your nose and out through the mouth (think labor breathing!). Start in intervals, fast walk/slow jog for a few minutes at a time. Increasing the time for each, every time you head out!

Glutes and legs. If you are behind your strollers, try taking a big step forward with the left leg and lunge down, so your left knee hovers over your left toes, and then step through with your right, again lining up your knee and toes. Continue with walking lunges, engaging those glutes and quads. If you're feeling sassy, each time you lunge down, raise the trailing leg straight up behind you for a rear leg lift before following through with that next step. You can also do this without a stroller. Place your hands on your hips and find your balance. Follow the sequence and keep those tummies tight!

Again, these are simple and very effective exercises you can do just about anywhere. You can still keep an eye on those curious kiddos while taking a few minutes out of your day to boost those endorphines, making you a happier Mom.
